Toddlers, where learning begins.

For two- and three-year-olds at SBS Bangkok: a gentle daily routine of play, inquiry and discovery that lays the foundation for the Cambridge Early Years curriculum.

A day in Toddlers

Toddlers find security in a predictable routine. Knowing what comes next frees them to relax, explore and grow in independence.

  1. 8.30am

    Arrival and free play

Bags into cubbies, then puzzles, playdough and books as friends arrive.

  2. 9.00am

    Morning circle

A welcome song, the weather chart or a story, kept short to suit young attention spans.

  3. 9.15am

    Small-group discovery

Crafts, sensory play, block building and sorting games, like counting scoops of rice.

  4. 10.00am

    Snack, then outdoors

Washing hands and pouring their own water, then climbing, tricycles and the sandpit.

  5. 11.00am

    Lunch together

Small tables, with teachers alongside to model good manners and conversation.

  6. 11.30am

    Rest

Children sleep on individual beds. Non-sleepers enjoy quiet books and soft puzzles.

  7. 12.45pm

    Sensory and creative play

Water play and finger painting, or music and movement with scarves and maracas.

  8. 1.45pm

    Home time

After an afternoon snack, children reconnect with their parents.

Never far from their day

From the first morning, you will know how your child’s day went and what they are learning next.

  1. Every day

A word with the teacher at drop-off and pick-up

  2. Three times a week

Seesaw updates on your child’s week and their progress

  3. Term 1 and Term 2

    A parent–teacher conference each term

  4. Written reports

Your child’s strengths and next steps

  • You see their week

On Seesaw, the teacher shares the themes and activities at the start of each week, how the class is getting on midweek, and a note about your child at the end of the week.

  • You know what comes next

Written reports describe your child’s strengths and next steps in Head, Heart and Hands, so you can build on them at home.

  • You hear about each new milestone

Our Toddler team will phone or message you through Seesaw or email you when your child reaches a new milestone.

Questions parents ask

  • What age is Toddlers for?

Children aged two to three. Toddlers is the first stage at SBS Bangkok and lays the foundation for the Early Years that follows.

  • When does the Toddler day start and finish?

A typical day runs from 8.30am to 1.45pm, when children are collected by their parents or guardians.

  • How many adults are in the classroom?

In each Toddlers class we have one international teacher, one Thai co-teacher and a Nanny that serves that ‘pod’.

  • What curriculum do Toddlers follow?

Our own programme, built on Head, Heart and Hands and on learning through inquiry and play. It prepares children for the Cambridge Early Years curriculum and gives them a head start on the Cambridge learner attributes.

  • How will my child settle in?

A predictable routine helps toddlers feel secure, and each morning starts with free play so children can ease into the day. Separating from parents calmly, once the routine is familiar, is one of the milestones we work towards together.

  • Do Toddlers nap?

Yes. After lunch, children sleep on individual beds. Children who don’t sleep rest for a short time, then enjoy picture books or soft puzzles.

  • How will I know how my child is doing?

Through daily conversations at drop-off and pick-up, three Seesaw updates a week, two parent–teacher conferences a year and written reports on your child’s strengths and next steps.

Curriculum handbook

The Toddler handbook sets out the daily routine, the Head, Heart and Hands milestones and how we share progress, in English and in Thai.
