Our First Toddler Puppet Show: Bringing Early Years Learning to Life at SBS Bangkok

Our toddlers stepped into The Wizard’s Magical Fruit Garden for their first puppet show, a joyful early years experience filled with storytelling, music, movement, family connection, and meaningful confidence-building moments.

A simple classroom can become something magical when imagination leads the way.

For our first Toddler Puppet Show at SBS International School Bangkok, the toddler classrooms were transformed into The Wizard’s Magical Fruit Garden for a special afternoon filled with joy, curiosity, and discovery.

With parents joining the circle, the experience became even more meaningful. Families had the opportunity to watch their little ones step into a world where storytelling came to life through characters, music, movement, and playful interaction.

As the Wizard called on his “Magic Helpers” to fill his empty bowl, the children responded with excitement and confidence. Each part of the story invited them to participate, make choices, listen carefully, and connect with the characters in front of them.

From finding a banana for the Monkey and an orange for the Giraffe, to choosing a sour lemon to wake the sleepy Rhino, every moment encouraged our toddlers to engage with the story in their own way. There were proud smiles for the Tiger’s crunchy apple and plenty of giggles as the Ballerina twirled for her strawberry.

In early years education, experiences like this are powerful because they turn learning into something children can feel, see, hear, and share. Through storytelling and imaginative play, young children begin to build language, social confidence, emotional connection, and expressive communication.

The presence of families made the afternoon even more special. For toddlers, seeing parents and teachers share in the same joyful experience helps create a sense of safety, belonging, and encouragement. These small moments play an important role in helping children feel ready to participate, explore, and express themselves.

The afternoon ended with everyone singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star together — a gentle and memorable close to a magical first puppet show.

Our first Toddler Puppet Show was more than a performance; it was a meaningful early years learning experience shaped by imagination, connection, and shared joy. At SBS Bangkok, these moments help our youngest learners grow in confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning from the very beginning.
