Book Week at SBS Bangkok: Celebrating Reading, Stories, and Imagination

Book Week at SBS Bangkok brought students and staff together for a joyful celebration of reading, creativity, and storytelling, helping children discover books as a source of imagination, confidence, and lifelong curiosity.

Stories have a special way of bringing a school community together. They invite children to imagine, question, create, and see the world through different eyes.

At SBS International School Bangkok, Book Week brought our campus to life through a joyful celebration of reading, stories, and imagination. Throughout the week, students took part in a wide range of enriching activities designed to spark creativity and deepen their love of books.

From literary quizzes and book character drawing to badge design and bookmark-making, each activity encouraged students to engage with stories in active and meaningful ways. Reading became something to explore, create from, talk about, and share with others.

Students also enjoyed quiet reading time in our very own SBS Book Nook, where they could slow down, settle into a book, and experience the simple pleasure of reading for enjoyment. Moments like these help children understand that reading is not only an academic skill, but also a source of calm, focus, imagination, and personal discovery.

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly our Book Week Finale, when the entire school came together in a vibrant celebration of storytelling. The campus was filled with colour, creativity, and character as students and staff proudly arrived dressed as their favourite book characters and paraded together as a whole school community.

From toddlers to teachers, and from simple handmade costumes to wonderfully detailed creations, SBS Bangkok was transformed into a living library — a place where stories stepped off the page and into real life.

Beyond the costumes and celebrations, Book Week reflected an important part of learning at SBS Bangkok. When children are surrounded by books in meaningful, memorable ways, reading becomes more than something they are asked to do. It becomes something they can enjoy, connect with, and carry into their everyday lives.

Book Week was a wonderful reminder of the power of stories to inspire confidence, creativity, and curiosity. By celebrating reading as a shared experience, SBS Bangkok continues to nurture a school culture where books open doors to imagination, understanding, and a lifelong love of learning.
