U6 Football Tournament at Berkeley International School

SBS Bangkok’s U6 team made school history on 8 November 2025 as they took part in the Berkeley Football Tournament — our first ever competitive match. The day was filled with teamwork, confidence, and joyful learning, marking an important step in our growing athletics journey.

Saturday, 8 November 2025 marked a truly historic milestone for SBS International School Bangkok, as our U6 football team proudly took part in the Berkeley Football Tournament — the very first competitive sports event in our school’s history. This occasion represents not only an important step for our athletics programme, but also a meaningful moment in the growth of our young school community.

A Day of Firsts, Energy, and New Beginnings

Our team arrived at Berkeley on Saturday morning to an atmosphere full of excitement and warm hospitality.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Head of School Mr. Neil Crossland and Principal Mrs. Rachel Crossland, whose presence and encouragement throughout the event truly inspired our young athletes.

Special thanks also go to Athletic Director Mr. PJ for his guidance and organisation, and to Coach Johan, whose commitment and preparation ensured that our U6 players stepped onto the pitch ready to learn, grow, and enjoy the game.

Valuable Lessons Beyond the Scoreboard

The U6 team competed in three matches, finishing with two losses and one impressive win.

While the scores provide part of the story, the deeper value of this tournament lay in the experience gained — the teamwork, confidence, resilience, and joy of taking part.

It is worth noting that our two losses came from matches against the teams that later advanced to the tournament final. Facing such strong opponents provided an excellent benchmark for a team that has only recently begun its football journey.

What truly mattered was not the scoreboard, but the opportunity for our students to experience real match play. Every game offered moments of learning — positioning, communication, supporting teammates, and managing the emotions of competition. These experiences form the foundation of long-term growth both in sports and beyond.

An important milestone like this would not have been possible without the strong partnership between school and families.

We sincerely thank our parents, who organised transportation, supported from the sidelines, and encouraged our young players throughout the day. Your involvement plays a crucial role in shaping memorable and meaningful experiences for our students.

The team concluded the day with new skills, proud memories, and a clearer sense of the journey ahead.
