Toddlers to Year 1 enjoyed SBS Bangkok’s inaugural Pi-rate Day, a playful phonics-inspired adventure filled with costumes, role play, confidence-building, and joyful learning for our youngest students.
Learning sounds, building confidence, and stepping into character all came together during SBS Bangkok’s inaugural Pi-rate Day, a high-seas adventure designed especially for our youngest learners.
Last Friday, children from Toddlers to Year 1 set off on a playful pirate-themed journey that brought early learning to life through imagination, movement, and role play. From talking like pirates to practising their best “puhs,” the day gave students a fun and memorable way to connect with phonics, language, and expressive communication.
Dressed for the occasion in eye patches, hooks, and gold hoops, our young learners fully embraced the spirit of the day. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, curiosity, and excitement as children stepped into their pirate roles and explored learning through play.
One of the highlights was the SBS Bangkok Pirate Plank, where some of our brave young pirates showed wonderful confidence as they took on the challenge. Moments like these are small in appearance, but meaningful in a child’s development, helping them build courage, independence, and a willingness to try something new.
For young children, learning is often most powerful when it feels joyful and purposeful. Pi-rate Day gave students the opportunity to practise sounds, use their imagination, communicate with others, and take part in a shared experience that made school feel exciting and alive.
At SBS International School Bangkok, experiences like Pi-rate Day reflect the value of playful, age-appropriate learning in the early years and lower primary years. Through creativity, confidence, and connection, our youngest learners continue to discover that learning can be meaningful, memorable, and full of joy.
