Expedition Week for Years 4–8: Learning Beyond the Classroom

Teamwork, service and responsibility in real settings

During Expedition Week, SBS Bangkok Years 4–8 students took part in experiences where teamwork, service and responsibility had to be practised, not only discussed.

For Years 4–5, the residential experience focused on age-appropriate challenge: settling into new routines, working as a team, taking part in service and sustainability-themed activities, and reflecting on how to support themselves and others away from the normal school day.

For Years 6–8, the expedition widened the lens. Students cooked, trekked, explored ocean plastics and wildlife conservation, learned about the relationship between elephants and local farming communities, and prepared English activities to share with local primary school students.

The value of the week was the way students had to connect their learning with the world around them: caring for a shared environment, contributing to a local community, taking responsibility for daily routines and supporting one another through challenge.
